Back in September, Conde Nast and the Metropolitan Museum of Art announce that Fashion InstituteThe 2023 show—and, by extension, the accompanying Met Gala—will honor the legacy Karl Lagerfeld. Now, we’re getting more details on the annual opening feature, scheduled for May 1st.

Entitled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” the exhibition will bring together nearly 150 looks and sketches that will “explore the German designer’s stylistic vocabulary as expressed through lines—aesthetic themes that appear again and again—in his fashions from the 1950s to his latest collection in 2019 and highlighted his unique methodology for his work,” according to a press release from the Met.

As always, the Met Gala will take place on the first Monday in May. Both the party and the show are supported by brands with which Lagerfeld has been most involved: Chanel, Fendi, and his eponymous label, Karl Lagerfeld.
