It’s approaching the “most awesome” time of the year, readers — so if anyone’s been thinking about a) Thanksgiving meals, b) Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, or c) holiday gifts, this new tool might be worth it. by observation.
It’s a dutch oven/pressure cooker combo, from Instant Pot, and only available at Williams & Sonoma. As they describe it in the product description:
Now you can create the same crisp flavors of cooking in a cast iron dutch oven with the speed and ease of the Instant Pot. This exceptionally versatile appliance features a cast iron inner pot that lets you grill, slow cook, sear, fry, and warm food—in the unit, in the oven, or on the stovetop. The airtight cast iron lid has a self-roasting grate on the underside that helps keep food moist and tender while the large LCD screen lets you easily monitor cooking progress. Perfect for oven-to-table use, the Dutch oven has a large capacity for both family and entertaining meals.
Nice – good. We primarily use our Dutch ovens for baking as well as soups, and I can see how a little more control over temperature and time would be a good thing. I also kinda keep an oven free for other projects – and hopefully it doesn’t make the whole kitchen as hot as a less efficient oven.
The Instant Dutch Oven It’s currently available in black and white (it looks like the red one is sold out) for $229 at Williams & Sonoma.
